CHAPTER SEVEN

When I woke up the next morning, I was alone in the bed. Startled, I sat up quickly. Where was Markus? At first I was terrified because the sheets were streaked with what looked like blood. Then I remembered that my hair had still been damp with the drink mix dye when Markus and I had shared the most incredible sex I’d ever experienced.

“Stupid,” I laughed at myself as I climbed out of the bed and started pulling the sheets off. A piece of paper fluttered to the floor, and I picked it up and read it. It was a note from Markus saying that he'd gone into town to see if things were safe.

“Stay put, he says,” I muttered, rolling my eyes as I reread the note. I wasn't exactly going anywhere without him. My body was still throbbing from the night before with an 'I can't wait to do that again' ache. I thought about what he said about my body choosing him no matter who my brain chose. That certainly seemed to be the case. I didn’t just want him, I craved him. I decided to take a shower before he got back. I would be all fresh and clean for him. Or, maybe he would get back before I was done and decide to join me. Mmm, the thought of Markus and I showering together again made my pussy wet. I turned on the taps and stepped in, hoping Markus would return in time to lather up with me.

I stayed in the shower for a long time, but finally gave up and got out. I dried off and dressed. Then I began pacing around the room. Markus had told me to stay put, but I was wondering if he was safe.

“What if Caleb or some of his men found him?” I asked myself. I frowned and decided with my disguise it would be safe for me to go out and look around. Ok, maybe it wasn’t the best disguise, but it would have to do. I moved quietly out of the house. It was a bright sunny day with just a hint of a breeze. I began walking on Main Street toward the fast food restaurant where Markus and I had eaten the day before. I was starving, so he might be too.

I was almost at the restaurant when I felt something strange; more like, I smelled something strange. It made the hairs on my arms stand up and my stomach flip. A firm hand roughly grabbed my shoulder from behind. I froze, the happiness draining from me, as I suddenly realized I should have done what Markus said and stayed back in the room.

“When my father saw how determined you and Markus were, to see that Markus had actually left the clan he loved—he realized you two should be together. He said I should just let Markus have you,” I heard a voice say from right behind me. Oh, no. It was Dorian, I felt like my heart was dropping to the bottom of my stomach.
